ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, to discuss collaboration on the Benazir Hunarmand Program and overseas employment initiatives.
The meeting focused on creating meaningful employment opportunities for underprivileged women and their families, both within Pakistan and abroad. Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that BISP is moving beyond financial assistance, aiming to make beneficiaries self-reliant through skills development and vocational training.
“We want to empower deserving women and their families by equipping them with marketable skills. The Benazir Hunarmand Program will open doors to local and international employment,” said Senator Rubina.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain declared the program “the need of the hour,” assuring the full support of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis. He stated that the training provided will be aligned with global employment standards and the evolving demands of international markets.
Both parties agreed to link the Overseas Employment Corporation and licensed recruitment agents with the Benazir Hunarmand Program to streamline overseas job placements. Additionally, a decision was made to appoint focal persons from both the Ministry and BISP to ensure effective coordination and implementation.
The collaboration marks a significant step toward transforming BISP from a welfare-focused entity into a platform for sustainable livelihood and global employment access.
