PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Suhail Afridi has directed the provincial administration to bring visible improvements in governance and public service delivery across the merged districts within the next three months.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on law and order, governance, and the development programme in the merged districts, the Chief Minister ordered the immediate restoration of development activities in North Waziristan within one week and directed the concerned departments to provide the required officers and staff without delay.
He also instructed authorities to take special measures to enroll out-of-school children, address the shortage of teachers and doctors on an emergency basis, and ensure better healthcare and education services. The Chief Minister said special funds have been allocated in the current budget to support school enrolment initiatives.
Suhail Afridi further directed officials to pursue the release of pending compensation for Operation Zarb-e-Azb affectees with the federal government and reiterated that the merged districts, being on the frontline in the fight against terrorism, would remain a priority for modern policing resources and equipment.
Appreciating the establishment of state-of-the-art Police Facilitation Centres, the Chief Minister stressed that improving public services and restoring people’s trust should take precedence over the construction of new buildings.
