Peshawar:The National Karate Championship held in Abbottabad concluded with Pakistan Army winning the men’s title and Pakistan WAPDA triumphing in the women’s events. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secured second position in the men’s category.

31st National Karate Championship, 17th National Women’s Karate Championship, and 6th Cadet and Junior Karate Championship were organized by Pakistan Karate Federation in collaboration with Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa Karate Association.

In the Women’s National Karate Championship, Pakistan WAPDA claimed first position, Pakistan Army stood second, and Sindh team came in third. Pakistan WAPDA won six gold and four silver medals. Pakistan Army secured two gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, while Sindh claimed one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

In 31st Men’s National Karate Championship, Pakistan Army topped the table with 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab shared second place with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal each. Pakistan WAPDA secured third place with six silver medals.

Chief guest at the closing ceremony was Commandant of PT School Abbottabad, Brigadier Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, who distributed trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes among the winning female athletes. He was accompanied by Chairman of Pakistan Karate Federation, Muhammad Jahangir; Coordinator KP Karate Association, Shah Faisal; Senior Vice President Khalid Noor; and other dignitaries.

On the final day of 17th National Women’s Karate Championship held at Government Postgraduate College No. 1, two more medals were decided. In 45 kg category, Sindh’s Samra Ijaz Paracha delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Pakistan WAPDA’s strong contender Hafsa Iqra Munawar to win the first gold medal for Sindh in the women’s event. Hafsa Iqra Munawar of WAPDA secured silver, while Islamabad’s Misbah Khan and Army’s Saira both won bronze.
