PESHAWAR: It is with deep sorrow that Pakistan Customs confirms a tragic attack on a Customs Enforcement Squad that was carrying out routine anti-smuggling duties near Kohat Toll Plaza at approximately 12:15 a.m.

During the incident, Sepoy Jawad Ahmed embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while another Customs Sepoy sustained injuries and received medical treatment. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the bereaved family and the injured officer during this difficult time.

Following the attack, the assailants set the official Customs vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to bring those responsible to justice.

Pakistan Customs pays heartfelt tribute to the courage, dedication, and supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Sepoy Jawad Ahmed and the Excise official who also laid down his life in the service of the nation. Their unwavering commitment to protecting the country’s economic frontiers and combating smuggling will always be remembered with profound respect and gratitude.

The Namaz-e-Janaza of Shaheed Sepoy Jawad Ahmed was offered at Customs House, Peshawar, in the presence of senior Customs officials, colleagues, and well-wishers. Thereafter, his mortal remains were transported to his native hometown, where he was laid to rest with full state honors.

Pakistan Customs remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s economic frontiers and combating smuggling and other criminal activities. The courage, dedication, and sacrifice of its personnel will continue to inspire the organization in fulfilling its duty to the nation. The sacrifice of our brave officers will never be forgotten.
