PESHAWAR : Senior actor Nisar Adil, who has served Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television for 56 years, has expressed deep concern over not being awarded the Pride of Performance despite his decades-long contributions to the performing arts. He has appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to review his services and take up his case for the national honour with the relevant authorities.
In a detailed post shared on his Facebook account, Nisar Adil said he had dedicated 56 years of his life to Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television. During more than five decades in the field, he performed in numerous television dramas and programmes and devoted a major part of his life to serving the institutions and the public through his art. He said that his services and professional record are part of the history and record of PTV.
The senior actor said he was awarded the Best Actor Award in 2010, which was recognition of his services and performance as an actor. However, despite this recognition, he has still not been awarded the Pride of Performance.
He expressed his disappointment that artists much younger than him, with considerably less experience and fewer years in the field, have been receiving national honours, while his name has repeatedly been overlooked. Nisar Adil questioned why, if his work was considered worthy of a Best Actor Award, his name had not been considered for the Pride of Performance after 56 years of service.
He questioned whether his decades-long contribution to Pakistani television and radio had no significance, or whether his name had simply been forgotten by the institutions responsible for considering artists for national honours.
Nisar Adil said that being repeatedly overlooked had left him deeply disappointed and discouraged. He said he had spent more than half of his life serving the country’s broadcasting industry and that being ignored despite such a long association with Radio Pakistan and PTV was extremely disheartening.
The senior actor appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take serious notice of the matter, review his decades-long services and ensure that his case for the Pride of Performance is given due consideration before the relevant forum.
He said his demand was not for any special favour or privilege, but simply for recognition of the services to which he had devoted more than five decades of his life. Nisar Adil maintained that 56 years of artistic service should not be forgotten or overlooked and that his contribution deserves due recognition.
