PESHAWAR:Following the announcement by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa setting June 20 as the date for Pakistan’s mega polo event — Shandur Polo Festival 2025 — Advisor for Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, and Museums, Zahid Chanzeb, has directed that all preparations for the festival be finalized immediately. The festival will be held from June 20 to June 22, 2025, in Upper Chitral.
Zahid Chanzeb emphasized ensuring the successful organization of the event and instructed DG Culture and Tourism Authority to ensure all possible facilities for the tourists attending the festival. He also stressed the importance of launching a promotional campaign to raise awareness among both domestic and international tourists about the event.
Expressing his views on the festival, the advisor stated that the Shandur Polo Festival is a reflection of the vibrant culture and traditions of the region. Teams from Lower and Upper Chitral will compete with teams from Gilgit-Baltistan, presenting a spectacular display of sportsmanship and brotherhood.
DG Culture and Tourism Authority reaffirmed their commitment to make best possible arrangements in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, district administrations of Lower and Upper Chitral, police, and Chitral Scouts.
The Shandur Polo Festival, renowned for being held at the world’s highest polo ground, attracts thousands of tourists every year, and an increase in the number of visitors is expected this year. The provincial government is determined to further promote the festival and boost tourism in the province.
