PESHAWAR :

Chairman of the Secretariat Coordination Council, Zafar Khan Yousafzai, has urged the provincial government and the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take effective measures for the appointment of qualified, capable, and experienced female PMS officers in Grades 18 and 19 to the positions of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in district administrations.

In a statement, he said that female PMS officers have been delivering outstanding services in various departments and administrative sectors, demonstrating their competence, integrity, and professional excellence. However, their representation in key positions within district administration remains very limited, a matter that requires serious consideration.

Zafar Khan Yousafzai stated that the Constitution of Pakistan and civil service principles promote merit, equal opportunities, and non-discriminatory professional advancement. Therefore, deserving female officers should also be given leadership opportunities at the district level so that they can utilize their abilities more effectively.

He further noted that the appointment of female officers as Deputy Commissioners would not only strengthen the administrative system but also contribute positively to gender equality, good governance, and the effective delivery of public services.

He appealed to the provincial government and the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to give immediate attention to this important issue and ensure that qualified female PMS officers in Grades 18 and 19 are appointed to Deputy Commissioner positions on merit, providing them with equal opportunities to contribute more effectively to the province’s administrative development and public service delivery.
