PROVINCE REPORT

PESHAWAR: On the occasion of Ashura, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, said that the tragedy of Karbala represents a defining battle between truth and falsehood, in which the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Imam Hussain (RA), made an eternal and unparalleled sacrifice for the supremacy of Islam—one that will continue to inspire humanity for generations.
In his message, the Chief Minister stated that the lessons of Karbala go far beyond history, offering a timeless message of sacrifice, courage, steadfastness, and unwavering commitment to justice. He said that Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions stood firm in the face of tyranny and oppression, choosing principles over compromise and truth over submission.
He added that Karbala teaches the importance of standing up for what is right, supporting justice, rejecting oppression, and remaining steadfast even in the most difficult circumstances. By following these principles, Muslims can not only revive their past dignity but also contribute to building a more just, peaceful, and humane society.
The Chief Minister further said that the tragedy of Karbala exposes the cruelty and injustice of illegitimate and oppressive rulers, while serving as a guiding light for all of humanity. Imam Hussain (RA) raised the banner of truth against tyranny and, along with his family and companions, made immense sacrifices, setting unparalleled examples of patience, resilience, and moral courage.
He emphasized that the present time demands unity against injustice, lawlessness, and social divisions. He urged people to rise above differences and focus on eliminating the root causes of conflict, stressing that collective efforts are essential for national stability and progress.
Muhammad Sohail Afridi said that as a responsible and vibrant nation, people must stand united against injustice and inequality, and play their role in strengthening the foundations of the country through unity, discipline, and adherence to moral values.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and harmony during the sacred days of Muharram, urging religious scholars and citizens from all schools of thought to demonstrate tolerance, mutual respect, and solidarity. He called upon all segments of society to actively promote unity and avoid any actions that could lead to division or unrest.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and religious harmony during Muharram, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to facilitate mourners and maintain law and order across the province.
He concluded by urging citizens to remember the message of Karbala in both spirit and practice, and to translate its teachings into actions that promote justice, compassion, and unity in society.
