PESHAWAR: Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Farzand Ali Wazir has emphasized that well-trained community volunteers are essential in responding to emergencies, natural disasters and accidents, helping save lives through timely and effective action. He said that strengthening emergency response capacity at the community level is crucial for building a safer and more resilient society.

He made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day Emergency Response Team (ERT) Course organized by PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in District Peshawar. On the occasion, he distributed certificates and Personal First Aid Pouches among the participants who successfully completed the training.

A total of 15 volunteers, including four female participants, took part in the course. The training combined classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises and simulation activities, equipping participants with essential lifesaving skills and improving their ability to respond effectively during emergencies and disasters.

Speaking at the ceremony, Farzand Ali Wazir appreciated the commitment and dedication of the volunteers and encouraged them to utilize their newly acquired skills in serving their communities whenever needed.

Movement Cooperation Officer Ayub Khan also attended the event and acknowledged the valuable support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in strengthening the emergency response capacity and operational structure of PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He noted that continued collaboration would further enhance preparedness and resilience in dealing with humanitarian emergencies across the province.
