DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner Dera Division Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghulam Mubashir Maken reviewed the main mourning processions and security arrangements on the occasion of the 9th Muharram across the district.
During their visit to various Imambargahs and procession routes, the senior officials monitored security measures and directly supervised the major processions of Thala Yela Shah, Sharti Syedan and Bamo Shah.
Deputy Commissioner Dera Hikmatullah Wazir, District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed, Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch and Chairman Aman Committee were also present on the occasion.
The officials conducted a detailed review of procession routes, security barriers, entry and exit points and other arrangements made for the Day of Ashura. Instructions were issued to police officers and personnel deployed on security duty to remain vigilant, monitor suspicious activities and facilitate the public.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner Dawood Khan said the purpose of the visit was to assess the processions and review the security arrangements put in place for Muharram-ul-Haram. He expressed satisfaction over the peaceful environment and said that with the cooperation of police, security forces, district administration, religious scholars, peace committees and the people of Dera, all Muharram events were being held peacefully.
RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken paid tribute to police personnel, security forces, scholars, procession organizers and the general public for their cooperation in ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram. He said public cooperation plays a vital role in maintaining law and order and that comprehensive security arrangements had been implemented across the division.
He added that police, district administration and other law enforcement agencies were working in close coordination round the clock to provide a secure environment for mourners. The RPO reaffirmed that extraordinary security measures would remain in place during the remaining days of Muharram, particularly on Ashura, and that all available resources would be utilized to prevent any untoward incident.
