PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) men’s and women’s gymnastics teams have been announced for the National and Inter-Provincial Gymnastics Championship, scheduled to be held in Karachi from September 5 to 7 under the Pakistan Gymnastics Federation.
Trials were conducted by the KP Gymnastics Association, with athletes from different districts showcasing their skills. The selection committee finalised the teams on merit.
The men’s team includes Yahya and Zohaib from Peshawar, Ahmed from Mardan, and Rizwan, Zakaria and Hafeez from Nowshera.
In the women’s category, Zimal Wazir, Nasiha Gul and Marosh were selected after securing first, second and third positions respectively in the trials.
KP Gymnastics Association Secretary Muhammad Raja congratulated the selected athletes and urged them to intensify their preparations for the championship. He expressed hope that the KP contingent would win maximum medals and bring honour to the province.
He also appreciated selection committee members Shams-ur-Rehman Orakzai and Sabir Shah, both Pakistan Gymnastics Federation-qualified technical officials, for conducting the trials transparently and selecting athletes on merit.
Shams-ur-Rehman Orakzai will accompany the team as coach, while Muhammad Raja will serve as team manager.
