PROVINCE REPORT

PESHAWAR: On the directives of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism and Culture Malik Adeel Iqbal, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority organized a one-day educational and recreational tour for female students, families, and tourism enthusiasts to promote agri-tourism in the province.

The participants visited the National Tea and High Value Crops Research Institute (NTHRI) Shinkiari Tea Garden, the Shinkiari Research Centre, and the Hazara University Museum. During the visit, experts briefed participants on tea cultivation, research, processing, packaging, and the economic potential of locally produced tea in Pakistan. They also highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable agriculture and increasing domestic tea production.

The group later toured the Hazara University Museum, where they explored the rich archaeological heritage, historical artifacts, and cultural legacy of the Hazara region. Participants also visited the scenic Siren Valley, experiencing its natural beauty, local traditions, and rural lifestyle.

Visitors enjoyed exploring Pakistan’s largest tea gardens and purchased locally produced tea, traditional qehwa, honey, and other agricultural and handicraft products. They praised the Tourism Authority for organizing an informative and engaging program that combined education, tourism, and environmental awareness.

Participants noted that such initiatives help connect young people with agriculture, research, cultural heritage, and eco-friendly tourism while creating awareness about the province’s emerging tourism destinations. They expressed hope that similar educational tours would continue in the future to promote tourism, agriculture, and the cultural and natural heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at both the national and international levels.
