PESHAWAR: The 5th Peshawar Open Table Tennis Tournament began on Monday at the Hayatabad Sports Complex with a colorful opening ceremony organized with the support of Ghani Glass and the Hayatabad Sports Complex administration.

Administrator Hayatabad Sports Complex Abid Afridi inaugurated the three-day event by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The ceremony was attended by Kifayat Ullah, Senior Vice President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Table Tennis Association, tournament organizer and Hayatabad Table Tennis Academy coach Muhammad Ibrahim, players, officials, and sports enthusiasts.

Around 80 players, including 16 female athletes, from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in the championship, which aims to promote table tennis at the grassroots level and provide competitive opportunities for emerging talent.

Speaking on the occasion, Abid Afridi said promoting sports remains a top priority, adding that the Hayatabad Sports Complex continues to provide quality facilities and a healthy environment for athletes. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting sports and developing young talent.

Tournament organizer Muhammad Ibrahim said all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure a professional competition. He thanked Ghani Glass and the Hayatabad Sports Complex administration for their support, expressing hope that the event would help identify talented players for future national competitions.

The three-day tournament will feature competitions in various categories involving some of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s leading male and female table tennis players.
