PESHAWAR: In a significant political development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) have reached a mutual understanding to allocate a minority seat without resorting to a draw. The decision was made after consultations between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and senior leaders of both parties.
PML-N has voluntarily stepped back from the draw, allowing JUI-F to claim the seat. As a major opposition party, PML-N has termed this move a “sacrifice” in the interest of transparent and fair elections, aiming to avoid allegations of vote-buying in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The ball is now in the government’s court,” said Federal Minister and President of PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, while speaking to the media. He emphasized that PML-N has acted responsibly and in good faith to uphold democratic values.
