PESHAWAR: Punjab defeated Sindh 3-0 to win the women’s team event of the National Junior Championship badminton competition held at the Peshawar Sports Complex under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The badminton competitions of the National Junior Games commenced at the Dawood Badminton Hall, where Punjab displayed an impressive performance to secure the title.
In the opening match of the team final, Punjab’s Roshan defeated Sindh’s Zahra Qasim in straight sets to give her team an early lead. In the second match, Punjab’s duo Himna and Tasnia overcame Sindh’s Hasba and Mahnoor in the doubles contest. Punjab sealed the championship in the third match when Hamna defeated Sindh’s Maryam to complete a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
The championship attracted talented young players from across the country and provided an excellent platform for emerging badminton athletes to showcase their skills.
Administrator Peshawar Sports Complex Yousaf Afridi and General Secretary of the Badminton Association Mian Sadaqat Shah were also present and witnessed the exciting contests.
The National Junior Championship continues with various competitions aimed at promoting sports talent and providing young athletes opportunities to excel at the national level.
