ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid has said that doctors, paramedics and volunteers who served flood victims in Swat during last year’s devastating floods are heroes of the nation and their selfless services will always be remembered.
She expressed these views while meeting a delegation of doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers who had participated in relief and medical activities for flood-affected people in Swat. The meeting was held at the BISP Headquarters in Islamabad.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that serving humanity during natural disasters and difficult circumstances was a great national responsibility. She appreciated the doctors, paramedics and volunteers for going beyond their professional duties to assist flood victims and setting an exemplary example of humanitarian service.
She said that people who step forward to help others during difficult times without caring about their own safety and comfort were a valuable asset to society. Their dedication and spirit of service were not only commendable but also a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
The BISP chairperson distributed certificates of appreciation among members of the delegation in recognition of their outstanding services to the flood-affected people of Swat.
Those who received certificates included Dr Riaz Yousafzai, Dr Aizaz Yousafzai, Dr Mudassir, Fahad Afzal, Fazal Subhan and Hamza Khan.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that promoting the spirit of humanitarian service was a collective responsibility and that those who came forward to support people in times of crisis deserved appreciation and encouragement.
