PESHAWAR :
A joint meeting of the Secretariat Coordination Council and the PMS Officers Association was held the other day, attended by all cabinet members of both organizations. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
The Secretary General presented the agenda and gave a detailed briefing on all activities undertaken so far regarding the budget demand, including meetings, consultations, press releases, corner meetings, and matters related to the Gentlemen’s Agreement.
The meeting expressed serious concern over the numerous issues being faced by Secretariat employees and officers. Participants stated that the associations have consistently brought these concerns to the attention of the relevant authorities on every possible occasion. They emphasized that there has never been a time when the problems of employees and officers were not highlighted. However, certain elements are deliberately creating obstacles and issues, resulting in growing anxiety and unrest among employees and officers.
The participants appreciated the positive and effective policies of the provincial government and the Chief Secretary, noting that continuous efforts have been underway for the past year to resolve these issues. However, they said that no significant progress has yet been achieved.
The meeting unanimously decided to establish a protest camp behind the PMRU at the earliest opportunity and announced the launch of a peaceful protest in front of the Minister Block starting from June 9.
Participants appealed to all Secretariat employees and officers to maintain discipline and actively participate in the protest while remaining united in support of their demands.
The meeting further made it clear that if no positive, concrete, and encouraging response is received from the government and senior authorities regarding the budget demand, the scope of the protest will be expanded to secretariats across Pakistan. The participants warned that responsibility for any such escalation would rest with the concerned authorities.
