MARDAN: The Department of Political Science and Central Library, Women University Mardan, jointly organized a one-day workshop titled “From Awareness to Leadership: Preparing Youth for Governance and a Drug-Free Future” on Thursday, 30 April 2026, at Women University Mardan. The event was organized by Dr. Nelofar Ikram, Mr. Muhammad Kamran, and Dr. Hassina Bashir.
The workshop aimed to empower young students—particularly female students—by bridging the gap between awareness and leadership. It focused on two key national priorities: preparing youth for competitive examinations such as CSS (Central Superior Services) and PMS (Provincial Management Service), and promoting awareness regarding a drug-free society. The initiative highlighted the critical role of educated youth in strengthening governance and addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse.
Mr. Masood Ahmad Bangash, District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan, addressed the participants as Guest Speaker. He shared valuable insights into the ground realities of drug abuse and its impact on society, particularly among youth. He highlighted the efforts and challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating drug-related issues and stressed the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, police, and civil administration in building a disciplined and responsible society. In addition, he also guided students on CSS preparation, sharing practical tactics, personal insights, and strategies to succeed in competitive examinations. He encouraged students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their goals.
Ms. Maria Mustafa, SP City, also addressed the participants and delivered an informative and practical session on CSS and PMS preparation. She guided students on understanding the examination structure, effective study strategies, subject selection, answer writing techniques, and interview preparation. Her session proved highly beneficial for aspiring candidates aiming to join civil services.
Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor, Women University Mardan, addressed the participants at the concluding session. She emphasized the importance of higher education in developing confident and capable female leaders and encouraged students to pursue careers in civil services to enhance women’s representation in governance. She appreciated the valuable contributions of Mr. Masood Ahmad Bangash and his team, as well as Ms. Maria Mustafa and her team, for their informative sessions. The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the organizers for successfully arranging the workshop. Shields were presented to the guest speakers and organizers as a token of appreciation.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering leadership qualities among youth and promoting a drug-free, responsible society.
