SWABI: A one-day workshop titled “Policy to Practice: Strengthening Healthcare Quality & Safety” was held at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC)-MTI, Swabi, on Wednesday, attended by more than 70 healthcare professionals and representatives from various Medical Teaching Institutions.
According to spokesperson of BKMC-MTI, Swabi participants represented MTIs from Bannu, D.I. Khan, Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Qazi Hussain Ahmed Medical Complex, (QHAM), Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) and Khyber Medical University (KMU), among other institutions.
Spokesperson said the workshop was aimed to strengthening the practical implementation of healthcare policies, with a focus on patient safety, quality improvement, clinical governance, compliance and better healthcare outcomes.
Dr Komal Fizza, Director Clinical Governance and Quality at NovaCare Hospital, Islamabad, and Member Board of Governors BKMC-MTI, served as master trainer and keynote speaker. During her interactive sessions, she discussed practical approaches to translating institutional policies into routine clinical and administrative practice, improving compliance and strengthening patient safety systems, spokesperson added.
In his opening remarks, Dean/CEO Prof Dr Shams-Ur-Rehman appreciated the initiative and highlighted measures taken by the institution to strengthen medical education, professional development and quality standards.
Hospital Director Dr Khalid Masud welcomed Dr Komal Fizza and participants from different MTIs and highlighted BKMC-MTI’s initiatives in patient safety, clinical care, policy implementation and quality improvement.
Acting Medical Director Prof Dr Seema Gul appreciated the Quality Assurance Department for organizing the workshop and acknowledged Dr Komal Fizza’s contribution towards strengthening quality and patient safety practices at the institution.
The workshop was coordinated by Saeed Afsar, Manager Quality Assurance, and Urooj Amjad, Quality Assurance Officer, Said Focal Person
At the conclusion, an appreciation shield was presented to Dr Komal Fizza for her contribution as master trainer and keynote speaker, while certificates were distributed among the participants.
The BKMC-MTI spokesperson said the institution would continue initiatives aimed at improving patient safety, healthcare quality and professional development.
