Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Pakistan National Women Lacrosse Team created history by winning the Silver Medal at the Asian Lacrosse Games 2026 held in Riyadh, marking Pakistan’s first-ever international participation in the sport of lacrosse.

Despite limited resources and competing without substitute players, the Pakistani women delivered outstanding performances against experienced Asian teams, finishing second overall. Their achievement stands as a testament to the team’s resilience, discipline, and fighting spirit.

Miss Fiza Zahir emerged as the star of the tournament, scoring an impressive 24 goals, the highest by any player in the competition, and playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s journey to the final.

The medal-awarding ceremony was graced by Fahad, President of the Saudi Lacrosse Federation, who personally presented the silver medals to the Pakistan team in recognition of their exceptional performance.

The team’s success was strongly supported by Irfan Khan (Team Coach) and Syed Muhammad Ilyas Shah (Team Manager), whose dedication, strategic planning, and tireless efforts proved instrumental in securing this historic achievement.

The Pakistan contingent was led by Chef de Mission Engr. Taifoor Zarin, whose leadership ensured Pakistan’s dignified representation at the international level. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, President of the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation, congratulated the players and officials, terming the silver medal a major milestone for women’s sports and the development of lacrosse in Pakistan.

Notably, five members of the squad — Syed Ilyas Shah, Amir Uzair Khilji, Faheem, Zain, and Gul Pari — hail from Mardan, highlighting the region’s growing contribution to national sports.

This historic success not only reflects the determination and talent of Pakistan’s women athletes but also opens a new chapter for the growth of lacrosse in the country, inspiring young girls nationwide to dream big and represent Pakistan on the global stage.
