A new wave of positive change is being felt in the atmosphere of Dera Ismail Khan. The time is slowly changing when girls’ education was limited by narrow thinking. Today, girls are not only achieving remarkable success in education but are also proving their abilities in different fields of life. However, one major obstacle still exists in this journey of progress, and that is early marriages, which leave many girls’ dreams unfulfilled.
On this important issue, District Education Officer (Female) Saeeda Anjum said in a conversation that in southern districts, especially in rural areas, it is still common for girls in grade seven and eight to be married off, which is a clear injustice to their future. According to her, parents should educate their daughters, as an educated mother forms the foundation of a better society.
She stressed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the southern districts, urgently need educated women in various fields such as medicine, teaching, and other professions. If girls are deprived of education, the society will face serious challenges in the future. She gave an important example, saying that when a woman falls ill at home, the family usually prefers a female doctor, and this is only possible if today’s girls are given access to education.
The DEO Saeeda Anjum also highlighted the important role of religious leaders and scholars in rural areas. She said that if scholars emphasize the importance of female education in Friday sermons and raise awareness among parents, it can bring positive change in society. Education is not just about degrees; it is about awareness, confidence, and a better life.
She further noted the encouraging progress of girls in Dera Ismail Khan, saying that young girls are now moving forward in every field. Whether riding scooters on city roads, achieving top positions in colleges and universities, or showing their talent in different professions, these girls are a clear example that they are no less than anyone. What they need is confidence, opportunity, and education.
It is a fact that an educated daughter can change not only her family but the destiny of the entire society. If parents invest in their daughters’ education today, tomorrow these same girls will become doctors, teachers, engineers, and leaders, bringing pride to the nation. The need of the hour is to prioritize girls’ education so they can build a better and dignified future according to their abilities.
