PESHAWAR: A delegation of the Core Committee of Marwat Qaumi Jirga, Lakki Marwat, called on the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat, and Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikramullah Khan, at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar.

The delegation was led by former Federal Minister Saleem Saifullah Khan and former Member of the National Assembly Nasir Muhammad Khan Midadkhel. Former Secretary for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Akhtar Munir Marwat and other elders of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga were also part of the delegation.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the overall law and order situation in District Lakki Marwat, provision of modern equipment, vehicles and other essential facilities to the police force, and other important security-related matters.

The delegation expressed public concerns over the withdrawal of security forces from FC forts and urged the government to deploy additional personnel instead of reducing the strength in the area in order to further strengthen law and order and make peace efforts more effective.

On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Ikramullah Khan and Special Assistant Tariq Saeed Marwat assured the delegation that they would apprise the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the security situation in District Lakki Marwat and would take all possible measures to address the issues being faced by the area.

They said that the provincial government is serious about restoring peace and maintaining law and order in Lakki Marwat and that practical measures are under way for a lasting solution to the issue. They further stated that special funds have been allocated in the provincial budget to enhance the capacity of the police force and equip it with modern facilities, which would play an important role in eliminating terrorism and establishing sustainable peace.

The delegation appreciated the keen interest and cooperation extended by Special Assistant Tariq Saeed Marwat and Additional Chief Secretary Ikramullah Khan in addressing the issues of the district.
