ABBOTTABAD: Balakot, Jaba, Hazara University Mansehra and Mandhar secured places in the semi-finals of the Under-23 Basketball Championship after impressive performances in the group-stage matches held at Balakot High School.

The championship is being organized in collaboration with the District Sports Office Mansehra and the District Basketball Association to promote basketball among young players and provide them with a competitive platform.

The event was supervised by Hazara Region Basketball Secretary Rafiq Khan. Mansehra Basketball Association officials, including Tamrez Khan, along with sports enthusiasts and local spectators, were also present to witness the matches.

In the opening fixtures, Hazara University Mansehra dominated Reh with a convincing 58-20 victory, displaying excellent teamwork and attacking play. Jaba also defeated Reh 31-19 to strengthen its position in the tournament.

Mandhar Club produced another commanding performance by defeating Attar Shisha 57-24, while Balakot secured a 40-28 victory over Attar Shisha to complete the list of semi-finalists.

Following these results, Balakot, Jaba, Hazara University Mansehra and Mandhar qualified for the semi-finals, which are scheduled to be played today. Tournament organizers expressed hope that the remaining matches would showcase a high standard of basketball and further encourage youth participation in sports across the Hazara region.
