PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minority Sports Festival has officially commenced at Tahmas Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Athletes from minority communities across the province are participating in a range of competitions, including cricket, volleyball, tug of war, and other sports events.

The festival was formally inaugurated by former Member Provincial Assembly and President Insaf Minority Wing Wazirzada, alongside former MPA and Secretary Insaf Minority Wing Ravi Kumar. Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Deputy Director Sports Kashif Farhan, Senior Vice President Waqar Khokhar, Adnan Joseph, and other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wazirzada said the provincial government is taking practical steps to ensure equal sporting opportunities for athletes from minority communities. He said the Minority Sports Festival is a key initiative aimed at promoting inclusivity and talent development.

He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sports Advisor Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, and the provincial government for organizing such events, stating that they help uncover hidden talent while promoting interfaith harmony and brotherhood.

He further said that sports play an important role in engaging youth in positive activities, and the government remains committed to providing equal facilities to all segments of society.

According to the festival administration, special arrangements for travel allowances (TA/DA) and accommodation have been made to facilitate athletes arriving from different parts of the province.
