TP REPORT
PESHAWAR; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan, has strongly criticized transfer of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Pims hospital during the night, saif that Punjab government is repeatedly violating jail manual. In a statement, Shafi Jan said that Punjab government once again shifted Imran Khan to hospital under cover of darkness without informing his family or personal physicians, describing move as highly regrettable. He maintained that transferring any prisoner outside jail premises after evening hours constitutes a clear violation of jail manual. Provincial minister Shafi Jan questioned why federal and Punjab governments were not presenting transparent information regarding Imran Khan’s health to the public and his family. He stated that both federal and Punjab governments had crossed all limits of oppression by restricting meetings with Imran Khan and keeping him in solitary confinement for past seven months. Shafi Jan stated that allowing family members to meet Imran Khan is his fundamental constitutional and legal right, any further denial of this right is unacceptable. He added. He said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been granted relief on medical grounds, while Maryam Nawaz had been given bail to care for her father. He further said that “Form-47 rulers,” despite seeking medical treatment abroad for even minor illnesses, were refusing to transfer Imran Khan to Al-Shifa Eye Hospital for complete treatment of his eye condition despite repeated demands from his family and party. He further said that Imran Khan was being taken to a hospital that does not have a retina specialist, raising concerns about adequacy of his treatment. Shafi Jan further said that treatment being meted out to Imran Khan amounts to discrimination and constitutes a serious violation of Constitution, law and fundamental human rights. Information Minister demanded that Imran Khan be immediately shifted to Al-Shifa Eye Hospital in accordance with his family’s wishes and that all facts regarding his health condition and medical treatment be made public without delay.
