DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Faisal Karim Khan Kundi, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has said that only Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) can better explain the situation regarding any possible change of the Chief Minister in the province, adding that there is currently no apparent move in this regard.

He expressed these views during an exclusive conversation with Media Homes CEO Muhammad Rehan at his residence, Kundi Model Farm in Dera Ismail Khan. Several local leaders, including Farhan Afzal Dhap, Sardar Adnan Khan Saduzai Advocate, Malik Abid Awan Advocate, and Azmatullah alias Manu Khan Comrade, were also present on the occasion.

Commenting on rumors about Ali Amin Gandapur potentially returning as Chief Minister, Kundi dismissed the speculation, saying such claims were baseless. He questioned the circumstances under which the Chief Minister from his district had earlier been removed, reiterating his stance that internal issues within PTI led to that decision.

Kundi remarked that once individuals part ways with PTI, their return becomes difficult, adding that some figures themselves spread news about their links with other political parties. He also highlighted the trust placed in him by the party leadership, which led to his appointments as Deputy Speaker and now Governor.

Referring to the performance of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he stated that the party has shown strong results in Dera Ismail Khan, turning it into a political stronghold with the highest number of elected representatives in the province from PPP.

He further said that PPP’s worker conventions are ongoing across the province, with upcoming events planned in Peshawar and other divisional headquarters, aiming toward forming a coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On political engagements, Kundi termed meetings with Maulana Fazlur Rehman and his son Maulana Asad Mahmood as a normal part of political interaction, emphasizing mutual respect despite differences.

Discussing development initiatives, the Governor said that key projects, including an international airport and a lift canal, are progressing in Dera Ismail Khan. He noted that the airport project will be presented in the next board meeting, though some elements are attempting to create hurdles.

He added that the lift canal project is nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated. Additionally, work on the dualization of the Indus Highway from Dera Ismail Khan to Kashmore is expected to begin shortly, which will significantly improve regional connectivity and travel facilities.
