PESHAWAR: In a significant step toward digital inclusion, the Youth Awareness & Development Organisation (YADO) convened a comprehensive session on Digital Safety & Cybercrime Awareness gathering young participants from Waziristan, Orakzai, Khyber, Bajaur, Peshawar, and Balochistan.
With internet access expanding rapidly across Pakistan, youth in remote and underserved areas are increasingly exposed to online risks with limited guidance on how to navigate them. Recognizing this gap, YADO designed the session to provide hands-on, practical knowledge tailored to the challenges young people face online.
The session covered critical areas including, Identifying cyber threats & online scams, Protecting personal data & privacy, Safe social media practices and Reporting cybercrime incidents.
The session was facilitated by Advocate Javeria Durrani, a legal expert specializing in cyber law and digital rights. Through case studies and interactive Q&A, she helped participants understand their rights and responsibilities in digital spaces. “The law is there to protect you, but awareness is the first line of defense,” Advocate Durrani told.
CEO YADO khayal Zaman in his opening remarks said Knowing how to secure your data and report abuse can prevent long-term harm. emphasized that digital literacy is no longer optional. He said An increasingly digital world means our youth need more than just internet access. They need the skills to use it safely. He Further said A student in Bajaur or Balochistan should have the same cybersecurity awareness as someone in a major city. Guest were given Shielda and participants were given participation certificates in the end of the session.
