Bajaur : The 19th death anniversary of renowned martyred journalist Dr. Noor Hakim Khan was observed with great respect and reverence in Bajaur district. In this connection, a simple yet dignified ceremony was held at the Bajaur Press Club, Khar, attended by journalists, writers, social activists, and people from various walks of life.
Addressing the gathering, the martyr’s brother and senior journalist, Fazal Hakim Khan, shed detailed light on Dr. Noor Hakim Khan’s life, educational achievements, involvement in sports, and journalistic career. He said that throughout his professional life, Dr. Noor Hakim Khan upheld the values of honesty, courage, and effective advocacy of public issues, always standing firmly for truth and justice.
He urged the Government of Pakistan to recognize the late journalist’s invaluable services and sacrifices by awarding him a posthumous Presidential Award. He also demanded that the martyr’s family be granted the same benefits and facilities that are provided to the families of other martyred journalists across the country.
Senior journalist and president bajaur press club Hasban Ullah Khan, in his remarks, said that Dr. Noor Hakim Khan’s journalistic contributions and sacrifices represent a bright chapter in history that can never be forgotten. He also called for special government assistance and a welfare package for the martyr’s children and family.
Renowned poet, journalist, and literary figure Nazir Gul Nadan stated that Dr. Noor Hakim Khan was not only an active and responsible journalist but also played a significant role in the peaceful resolution of local disputes, the promotion of social harmony, and the advancement of peace. According to him, the martyr’s personality was a practical embodiment of patience, wisdom, and humanitarian values.
Other speakers, including Masood Khan, Sajjad Karwan, Samiullah Ehsan, Bilal Yasir, Syed Badshah, Maulana Muhammad Younis, Irfanullah Jan, Tahir Khan Durrani, Hanifullah Jan, and others, also addressed the ceremony. They paid glowing tribute to Dr. Noor Hakim Khan’s journalistic, social, and humanitarian services, reaffirmed their commitment to keeping his memory alive, and unanimously renewed the demand for the conferment of a Presidential Civil Award in his honor.
The ceremony concluded with a special address by Maulana Muhammad Younis, while Irfanullah Jan offered prayers for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks, the peace and security of the country, and the success of the journalistic community.
